Social Justice

We believe in using our voice and platform to advocate for social issues we want to see positive change in.

As one of Christchurch’s vocal advocates for youth, Lisa started off her post high school education studying psychology. Lisa worked with at-risk youth as a teenager and brings the knowledge and experience to Social Currency’s purpose.

Lisa is passionate about purpose-driven business, and many of her existing and new clients now incorporate a social impact model in their organisation or business model.

Lisa is available to speak at events, sit on discussion panels and support community initiatives with a focus on creating resilience, grit, growth mindsets and emotional regulation in young people.

Lisa spoke about overcoming postnatal depression and domestic abuse on the Nutters Club radio show in February 2020, on New Zealand highest rating commercial station Newstalk ZB.

The show focuses primarily on mental health and features guests and callers discussing topics such as drug and alcohol dependency, depression, anxiety and various other aspects of mental health issues facing New Zealanders.

Advocating for mentors is something Lisa is strongly committed to, along with connecting organisations with individuals who are interested in supporting young people.

Lisa’s passionate and energetic manner has seen her booked at a variety of public speaking engagements over the past two years. She’s shared her motivation and positive outlook to diverse groups including youth, corporate professionals, small to medium business owners and community representatives.

Lisa’s talks revolve primarily around taking a leap of faith and starting Social Currency whilst solo parenting and facing challenges with her son’s father absent and recently in prison. She brings a positive attitude, speaks about overcoming adversity and the drivers behind supporting at-risk rangatahi in NZ.

Lisa can be found supporting new and growing not for profits and businesses, entrepreneurs and social impact enterprises.

She is currently a member of the Chartered Accountant speaker team for the South Island, New Zealand.
